The start of September means we're less than a month away from Same Same But Different Music Festival. If you've been anticipating this event and are now wondering what's the best way to prepare for this extraordinary weekend, you're not alone! Your RV is already a mobile home, so you'll have less to pack than a tent camper. But there are still some essentials to remember:

RV-Specific Gear:

  • Extra Water and Propane: If you'll be staying at a site without water hookups, conserve your tanks by limiting long showers and using paper plates to minimize dishwashing.

  • Surge Protector: Festival hookups can be strained. A surge protector is a small investment that can save you from a major electrical headache in your RV.

  • Dumping Info: The festival provides a black water dump station on-site for an additional fee. Plan ahead and know where it's located.

  • Fueling Up: Fill up your gas and propane tanks before you arrive. It's difficult to leave the festival grounds and return, so you want to be self-sufficient. For a more convenient and stress-free option, consider renting with RV Rentals Way of Life. Our Prep Fee provides 2 Full Propane tanks. We also freshen and sanitize the Grey and Black Tanks, and provide RV Essentials (dish soap, sponge, paper towels, RV toilet paper),.

Campsite Essentials:

  • Shade Structure: While your RV provides shade, and often an outdoor awning, an EZ-Up or pop-up canopy with tapestries on the sides is still a must. It extends your living space and creates a communal area for you and your friends to relax in.

  • Outdoor Furniture: Bring plenty of comfortable chairs, and maybe even an outdoor rug to define your space and keep the dust down.

  • Lighting: String lights or battery-powered lanterns are perfect for decorating your campsite, making it easy to find at night, and adding to the festive atmosphere.

  • Fun Touches: Decorate your RV! Flags, banners, and colorful lights will make your campsite a beacon of fun and community.

  • Grill: While all our RVs include fully equipped indoor kitchens, taking the fun outdoors is often desirable for full immersive festival experience. An enclosed propane grill is a great way to save money on food. Check the festival rules, as they may also allow fire pits in the RV area. Some of our RVs also include outdoor kitchens for a more fun and elevated experience. It's not too late to rent one! The following trailers include outdoor kitchens:

Navigating the Festival from Your RV

Your RV is your personal basecamp, but you'll still be walking to and from the stages.

  • Know the Layout: The RV area is known to have a bit of a walk to the main stages. Familiarize yourself with the festival map and be prepared for the journey.

  • Stay Hydrated on the Move: Don't just rely on your RV's water. Carry a hydration pack or a reusable water bottle and fill it at the free water stations located throughout the festival grounds.

  • Noise and Community: SSBD has quiet hours in the RV camping area, but the fun often spills into the late-night hours. If you're a light sleeper, earplugs are your best friend.

An RV at Same Same But Different is a ticket to a more comfortable, relaxed, and immersive festival experience. By planning ahead, packing wisely, and embracing the community, you'll be set for a weekend of unforgettable memories and a true home away from home.
